Overview

            The Department of Swasthvritta and Yoga at Rama Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital enthusiastically celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day on 21st June 2025, under the global theme "One Earth – One Health." The event was conducted in line with the guidelines provided by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, aiming to spread awareness about the importance of yoga for holistic health and well-being.

Pre-Event Activities: Day 1 (19th & 20th June 2025)

On 19th June 2025, Rama Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital organized a Rangoli Competition for students of all BAMS batches as part of the pre-celebration activities for the 11th International Yoga Day. The theme of the competition centered around yoga, health, and wellness, allowing students to creatively express the essence and significance of yoga through traditional art.

Day-1

In addition to the competition, the day also included practice sessions and demonstrations of yoga, strictly adhering to the Common Yoga Protocol issued by the Ministry of AYUSH. These sessions aimed to familiarize students with the correct techniques of various asanas, pranayama, and meditation practices, fostering greater awareness of yoga's role in daily life. The events saw enthusiastic participation from students of all BAMS batches, setting a vibrant and energetic tone for the upcoming celebrations.

Day-2

On 20th June 2025, an online guest lecture was organized on the topic:
"Ashtang Yoga and Health"
Guest Speaker: Prof. Dr. Shivkumar, SDM College of Ayurveda & Hospital, BM Road, Tannirualla, Hassan, Karnataka.

Dr. Shivkumar delivered an insightful lecture highlighting the eight limbs of yoga (Ashtanga Yoga) and their profound impact on physical, mental, and spiritual health. The session witnessed active engagement from students and faculty alike and helped raise awareness about the role of yoga in achieving balanced and healthy living.

Main Event: 21st June 2025

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, the Department of Swasthvritta and Yoga conducted a practical yoga session showcasing different asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques, following the protocol prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH. Participants from all BAMS batches, along with faculty and non-teaching staff, enthusiastically took part in the yoga practice session. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Guruprasad K, Principal and Head of the Department of Swasthvritta and Yoga. He appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and encouraged everyone to make yoga a part of their daily lifestyle for better health and well-being.

Conclusion

The 11th International Yoga Day celebration at Rama Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital was a grand success. Through a blend of creative competitions, enlightening lectures, and practical sessions, the event reinforced the significance of yoga in modern life and encouraged the adoption of a healthy and balanced lifestyle among all participants.
